Really easy to use just as long as you don’t try to cut to deep all at once. Take 1/4 inch deep cuts at a time.I bought this because i have an 88 samurai with tires thats been on it 10+ years, (doesnt weight enough or go fast enough to wear them out, and wanted a little more grip offroad).First impressions:Anyway! i got it out and plugged it in. Make sure you have something to sit it on that wont burn the house/barn/garage/shop etc down cause this thing gets hotter than the gates of hell when its going. i liked all of the different options of tips it came with, it was my first "groovy" experiece so I was figureing it out. i set the dept and got started on my 32x12.5 sport king radials. first tire took me about 45 mins but i was trying to figure out what pattern i wanted, the handle is supprisingly comfortable for long use. Im 6'6" and 280lbs and my hand covers the entire handle but even with an 1.5 hrs of use I could have done more.Performance:This thing gets HOT! once i got it up to temp, prop your tire up on something you can push against, make sure your depth is where you want it and aim and push. i could cut through a lug in about 1-2 seconds a pass. If you push on it, its literally like a knife through butter. Make sure you have a fan cause it will get smokey. ive only tired 1 top out but i used the #3 and it was sufficent. i have 2 pictures attached, what i started with and a pic of about 15 mins in. i will get a pic of the finished tire soon. let me know if you have any questions.Worked great for me to regroove some 19.5 contenental HDR and HSR. It does require some force to operate and takes time but considering extending life of $300 tire it's worth the cost and effort for me.Little bit of a learning curve with this tool as expected but basically just trace the old tread and don't set too deep. Let it warm up for 10-15 min and get to work. Took about 30-40 min per tire but expect to take breaks as it takes some force. Also check the blade often for tightness. If it walks out it will cut deeper than you wanted.I got this to cut sipes in the mud tires on my Jeep. I used some mini razor blades in the grooving head to cut the sipes instead of the grooving blades. It worked great and gave me a lot more traction on icy roads. When you use it you just need to make sure that you give it adequate time to fully get hot, and keep the cutting head pointed up while it warms up so that there is no chance of the handle melting.Purchased this to put a new edge on my dirt bike tires, this grooving tool works great and exceeded my expectations for how quick it works. Would recommend to anyone looking to add more life to their dirt bike tires. The only thing it needs is a way to hang it while it is hot and for cooling the unit down.Purchased this tool to start comp cutting some of my dune tires. It worked great, but expect that you might rip a whole thru a tire before you get the 'feel' of shaving off the rubber. I've cut down 4 tires so far. Love this tool.Awesome tool for both grooving and siping.I've used this tool on my M/T type tires to improve traction on icy surfaces.Simple and effortless. Should have purchased this years ago.Highly recommended.Southwest Speed was quick to ship, would buy from them again.was very impressed how well this economical tire groover works. I used it togroove the tires on my eighteen wheeler a couple of tires at a time. and it worked great. this will help me extend the life of my used tires great tool.
