I'll start by saying that the kids love this mat. It's bit, colorful, has got a lot to look at, many winding roads and train tracks for little cars to drive along, and many buildings, playgrounds, animals, etc as well for imaginative play.From an adult perspective, it looks like a bunch of weird clip art printed onto a non-woven fiber mat. As the sign says, definitely kind of a funky town, haha. But kids don't notice stuff like perspective, aspect ratio and misspellings, so it's not a big deal.There is nothing indicating what material the mat is made of. As I said, it's some sort of spun fiber, non-woven material. Pretty rigid and borderline rough, not soft at all. It's closer to the texture of one of those green dish souring pads than to a rug.It will be fine for the back patio. It seems like something we can spray off with the hose and then let hang dry in the sun, if we need to clean it.It seems a little overpriced for the quality of the product, and I am a bit skeptical about the safety of direct skin contact with this undocumented material.
